Tomatoes: At Shakthi GTC, we take immense pride in providing the finest tomatoes available. Our dedication to quality starts with the careful selection of seeds and continues through every stage of cultivation, ensuring each tomato is grown under ideal conditions for optimal taste and freshness. Botanically speaking, a tomato is classified as a berry, though it is commonly used as a vegetable in cooking. Part of the Solanaceae family, which includes potatoes, peppers, and eggplants, tomatoes are native to western South America. Today, they are grown globally for their rich culinary and nutritional benefits.

Various types of tomatoes:

  •  Beefsteak Tomatoes: Large, meaty tomatoes with a rich, sweet flavor. They are great for slicing and are commonly used in sandwiches and burgers.

  •  Roma (Plum) Tomatoes: Oval-shaped tomatoes with dense flesh and low moisture content. They are ideal for making sauces, pastes, and canning due to their meaty texture and low seed count.

  •  Cherry Tomatoes: Small, round tomatoes usually less than an inch in diameter. They come in various colors (red, yellow, orange) and have a sweet flavor. Cherry tomatoes are often used in salads, as snacks, or roasted whole.

  •  Grape Tomatoes: Similar to cherry tomatoes but slightly elongated. They have a firm texture and a sweet flavor. Grape tomatoes are popular for snacking, salads, and roasting.

  •  Heirloom Tomatoes: These are non-hybrid tomato varieties that have been passed down through generations. They come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, with unique flavors and textures. Heirloom tomatoes are prized for their diversity and often have a rich, complex flavor.

  •  Campari Tomatoes: Small, round tomatoes with a sweet and tangy flavor. They are larger than cherry tomatoes but smaller than beefsteak tomatoes. Campari tomatoes are often used in salads or eaten as a snack.

  •  San Marzano Tomatoes: These are elongated plum tomatoes with a sweet flavor and low acidity. They are prized for their use in Italian cuisine, particularly for making sauces and pasta dishes.

  •  Yellow Pear Tomatoes: Small, pear-shaped tomatoes with a sweet and tangy flavor. They have a bright yellow color and are often used in salads or as a garnish.

  •  Green Zebra Tomatoes: These tomatoes have green and yellow stripes and a tangy flavor. They are often used in salads and add a colorful touch to dishes.

  •  Black Krim Tomatoes: Large, beefsteak-type tomatoes with a dark purplish-red color and a rich, smoky flavor. They are popular in salads and sandwiches.

  •  Brandywine Tomatoes: Heirloom tomatoes with large, pinkish-red fruits and a sweet, slightly spicy flavor. They are prized for their rich, complex taste and are often used fresh in salads or sandwiches.

  •  Costoluto Genovese Tomatoes: Italian heirloom tomatoes with a deeply ribbed, flattened shape and a tangy flavor. They are great for slicing and are commonly used in sauces and canning.
