Maize, commonly known as corn (Zea mays), is one of the most widely cultivated cereal grains in the world. It has been a vital part of agriculture and human consumption for centuries, serving as a staple food in many countries.

Corn is a tall, annual grass characterized by its long leaves and large ears, which develop along the stalk. The plant typically grows between 7 to 10 feet in height, producing ears covered in protective husks. Each ear contains rows of kernels attached to a central cob, varying in color from yellow and white to red, blue, and even purple, depending on the variety.

Beyond its role as a dietary staple, maize is used in livestock feed, biofuel production, and numerous industrial applications. It is also a key ingredient in many processed foods, including cornmeal, corn syrup, and tortillas.

As a high-yielding and versatile crop, maize continues to be a crucial component of global food security and agricultural economies, supporting farmers and industries worldwide.
